Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
On behalf of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation I welcome you to the 10th Jubilee Industrial Exhibition “EXPO RUSSIA Jordan” held under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and with active support from the Ministries of External Affairs, departments of the economic and financial block of Russia and friendly Jordan, diplomatic missions of our states, and Arabic-Russian Business Council.
The special significance is attached to this forum in the light of Russian-Jordanian agreements reached during the meeting of Russian President D.A. Medvedev and King Abdullah the Second this January.
Russia and Jordan are bound by long friendship, and contacts on the highest level are regular. The level of trade and economic cooperation undoubtedly seems to grow. During the previous decade, representatives of over two thousand Russian companies participated in “Expo-Russia” in Jordan, including such well-known companies as KAMAZ, UAZ, Rosatom, AMO ZIL, RAO RZhD, Zarubezhneft and other. Also regional chambers of commerce and industry take active part in the exhibition; among them are CCI of St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Smolensk, Penza, Samara, Dzerzhinsk, Yuzhno-Uralsk CCI. At the same time I would like to emphasize positive coordinating role of the Exhibition and Fair Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
It is worth mentioning that the forum has already to a great extent influenced establishment and mutually beneficial development of interregional cooperation between Russia and Jordan. Due to its geographical position in the very centre of the Near East and also taking into account political and economic stability in the country, Jordan is becoming an intermediary in business relation between states of this region and the rest of the world.
I hope that this exhibition will contribute greatly not only to further development of Russian-Jordanian trade and economic relations, but will also foster strengthening of traditionally friendly and manifold relations between Russia and Arabic and Islamic world.
I wish all participants, organizers and guests of the exhibition success and prosperity, mutually beneficial cooperation and achievement of the goals set.
